Awesome Directories is an open-source project that respects your privacy. We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service and never sell your personal information to third parties.

1.1 Authentication Data (via Supabase)

When you create an account using OAuth authentication, we collect:

  • Email address - From your Google or GitHub account
  • OAuth provider ID - Unique identifier from Google or GitHub
  • Display name/username - Public profile information
  • Profile picture - Avatar from your OAuth provider (if available)
  • Account creation date - Timestamp of when you first signed up

1.2 User-Generated Content

  • Directory submissions - Information you submit about new directories
  • Favorites - Directories you've marked as favorites
  • Votes - Your upvotes or downvotes on directories
  • Reviews & comments - Your written feedback about directories
  • Submission tracking - Record of your directory submissions

1.3 Analytics Data (via Pirsch)

We collect anonymized analytics data through Pirsch, a privacy-first analytics platform:

  • Page views - Which pages you visit
  • Referrer information - Where you came from
  • Browser & device type - General device information
  • Geographic location - Country-level location (not precise)
  • Session duration - How long you spend on the site

Important: Pirsch is fully GDPR-compliant and does NOT use cookies or track personal information. All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. No IP addresses are stored.

1.4 Newsletter Data (via Mautic)

  • Email address - To send you updates and launch strategies
  • Subscription source - Where you signed up (e.g., footer, popup)
  • Subscription date - When you subscribed
  • Email engagement - Whether you open or click links in our emails

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide core features - Authentication, favorites, submissions, voting
  • Improve the service - Understand usage patterns and optimize UX
  • Send newsletters - Deliver launch strategies and updates (opt-in only)
  • Prevent abuse - Detect and prevent spam or malicious activity

We do NOT: Sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for unrelated purposes.
